10-Year Reunioning

 

"Do you love your Indians deep down in your heart? Yes we love our Indians deep down in our hearts. How deep? Deep deep, down down, deep down in our hearts."

I sang this song probably a million times in high school. I sang it about half a million times at my high school reunion parade and game. Indian was my mascot. Blue and gold were my colors. I still can't believe it has been 10 years since I graduated. What have I done with the time? Well....

*Graduated from BYU in Broadcast Journalism

*Served an 18-month mission in Poland (learned Polish language)

*Met the best friends of my life

*Worked at a residential treatment center for troubled teenage girls

*Worked as an EFY counselor for a summer

*Completed a summer internship with NY1 News in Manhattan

*Moved to Arizona

*Interned with the Mesa Police Department in the Victim Unit

*Graduated with my Masters in Social Work (emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy)

*Met and married the man of my dreams in Mesa, AZ temple

*Had a baby (5-months old now)

*Currently working at psych hospital as intake therapist

As I was talking with everyone about what I have been doing these past 10 years, it made me realize that I have fit in a lot of good stuff. It made me feel really accomplished and proud of the choices I have been making. It's nice to have these thoughts about yourself once in a while-especially because I tend to beat myself up most of the time!

I was a class officer for all 4 years of high school. I love this before and after picture of the officers. It's funny how much we all look the same. And who decided pukka shells were in? Lol. And bandanas. That was probably my dumb idea:) The four of us rode in the parade and threw out candy to the cute kids. It was so fun to look down and see my parents and my hubby and baby waving at me from the side of the road. I was so happy to share all my fun memories with them!
